Proxim's SmartConnect™ is designed to deliver high performance in high-density environments and under challenging RF interference conditions.
Proxim SmartConnect™ features Proxim's proprietary Beam steering technology (BeamX™) that steers the main antenna lobe towards the remote end of the link. The narrow beam limits interference from nearby RF sources and delivers significantly cleaner transmission than a standard sector antenna.
The beam is pointed toward the Subscriber Unit (SU) and If interference is detected nearby, the beam, initially centered on the SU is steered away from the interference while keeping the SU within the 17 ° lobe, resulting in the best possible signal to noise ratio.

The narrowly focused and amplified 17° beam has significantly higher gain and more energy than a typical 60 or 90° sector antenna. A signal to noise ratio improvement of up to 6dB delivers higher bandwidth over longer distances. The interference mitigating narrow beam also allows the use of higher modulation with the benefit of greater throughput and system performance.
Proxim SmartConnect™ technology includes Proxim SmartScan™, a dedicated scan radio that continuously monitors surrounding RF environments. With this ability, the system can immediately switch to a free channel in the event of weather radar detection, or severe RF interference - a feature that makes the DFS channels more usable. It also opens access to the 5.600-5.650 GHz sub-band, and in total enables effective use of up to an additional 355 MHz of DFS spectrum.
