Press Releases
Silicon Valley, CA, May 4, 2015 - Proxim Wireless Corporation (OTC Markets: PRXM), a pioneer and global leader in advanced Wi-Fi, point to point (PtP) and point to multipoint (PtMP) radio systems, today announced the launch of its new Tsunami® 835 series of low-cost plus full-feature subscriber units. The products are available for order today.
Low cost but not low featured
The 835 products are primarily targeted to meet the needs of the wireless Internet Service Provider (WISP) market, specifically those WISPs looking to provide wireless broadband connectivity to small-to-medium businesses (SMBs) and consumers. Infrastructure costs are of critical importance to WISPs as their business models only work with a sufficiently low-cost subscriber unit. While consumers and SMBs have an insatiable appetite for bandwidth, they also are very cost-sensitive and they are always looking for who can provide them the most data at the lowest cost. A low-cost but full-featured subscriber unit is critical to meeting these market requirements.
License Upgradeable Throughput = Low Initial Cost + Capability to Grow
In addition to sharing the features of Proxim's previous subscriber units, Proxim has expanded its license-upgradeable throughput capabilities. The 835 products will be available for purchase with throughput capabilities of 10 Mbps or 25 Mbps. A WISP initially deploying a network can start by deploying the 10 Mbps 835 product and as the WISP's network and its customers' desires for increased throughput grow, the WISP can simply buy a license to upgrade the throughput capability of its network. The need for expensive and time-consuming equipment replacement and bucket truck rolls are replaced by a simple software-enabled subscriber unit upgrade.
Additional Tsunami 835 Product Features
Additional features of the 835 products include:
- Powered by WORP®: All 835 products are powered by Proxim's proprietary Wireless Optimized Routing Protocol (WORP®) software. Proxim's WORP software delivers tangible, real-world benefits to Proxim's customers including the ability to operate either in GPS-synchronized mode or asynchronous mode, more net bandwidth enabled through spectral efficiency, Quality of Service (QoS) settings enabling the prioritization of the most time-sensitive network traffic, and Dynamic Data Rate Selection (DDRS) calibrating the network to the most appropriate modulation settings in the RF environment for continuous high throughput on the network.
- Compact outdoor unit form factor
- Standard two year subscriber unit warranty
- Easy to install
- Extended Coverage
- Robust IP67 Metal Enclosure
- Wide Range Frequency Support
- Extremely Secure
- Backward compatibility
Comment from Proxim
"Our goal in introducing the 835 series was to provide a subscriber unit free of compromise," said Greg Marzullo, President & CEO of Proxim Wireless. "We wanted a unit that would provide a world-class feature set and robustness while also enabling the bandwidth upgradeability and entry point costs which our customers are seeking. Often achieving their desired cost objectives in the past has required service providers to forgo product features, post-sale support, warranty, and product reliability. We wanted to introduce a platform that would address both sets of requirements."

Safe Harbor Statement
Statements in this press release that are not statements of historical facts are forward-looking statements that involve risks, uncertainties, and assumptions. Our actual results may differ materially from the results anticipated in these forward-looking statements. The forward-looking statements involve risks and uncertainties that could contribute to such differences including differences between throughput capabilities and actual throughput seen in any given situation given the myriad real-world impacts on throughput in any specific deployment; throughput reductions resulting from use of the WORP synchronization features; difficulties in overcoming the network installation and operational challenges relating to any specific customer or geographical area; factors beyond our control such as weather, geographic, governmental, and interference issues that may increase the costs and difficulties of wireless deployments; specific requirements of a given customer in their specific situations; whether the deployment will achieve the desired objectives of any given customer; and difficulties or delays in supplying products with the features, performance, compliances, certifications, cost, price, quality, and other characteristics desired by customers. Further information on these and other factors that could affect Proxim's actual results is contained in the filings made by Proxim with the OTC Markets (available at www.otcmarkets.com), including without limitation in the Annual Report filed by Proxim on March 30, 2010, and is and will be contained in its other public statements, which may be available on Proxim's website (www.proxim.com).
