Mesh

Wi-Fi Mesh architecture breaks networking distances into a series of shorter hops with intermediate nodes to increase Wi-Fi coverage area along with network redundancy. Intermediate nodes not only increase the signal coverage area but cooperatively make forwarding decisions based on the routing protocol. The coverage area of the radio nodes working as a single network becomes a ‘Wi-Fi Mesh cloud’. This mesh-cloud is a Self-forming and Self-healing network architecture offering high performance, versatility, reliability and resilience.

Proxim’s proprietary ORiNOCO® Mesh Creation Protocol (OMCP) enables the mesh network to be flexible, auto-forming, self-healing while dynamically adjusting traffic routing as and when new APs are added or removed, without the intervention of network

administrators. This unique self configuring networking protocol provides for high speed 802.11n mesh backbone links between mesh Access Points (root and intermediate) without any user intervention.

ORiNOCO® Public Safety Wi-Fi Mesh Series product line features a unique dual-radio architecture supporting both 4.9GHz public safety and 2.4GHz metropolitan Wi-Fi networks. The 4.9GHz band enables dedicated broadband network access to Public Safety and ensures no interference from other wireless broadband operators.

Proxim’s Mesh features:
  • Proxim’s proprietary mesh protocol ORiNOCO® Mesh Creation Protocol (OMCP) powers the mesh networks to offer performance, versatility, resilience along with high reliability
  • ORiNOCO® Wi-Fi Mesh Series products feature dual-radio architecture supporting both 5GHz ,2.4GHz and 4.9GHz public safety Wi-Fi networks
  • Dual-radio architecture: Mesh and Wi-Fi coverage on one radio, while the second radio is used exclusively for Wi-Fi coverage
  • Data, Voice and Video are delivered over Wi-Fi to the edge of the network over a flexible, auto-forming, self-healing, near line-of-sight mesh backbone
  • Proxim’s mesh network architecture allows for a unique frequency to be used for each wireless hop making it a high performance mesh link without any bandwidth degradation
