Proxim Wireless and Oceanic Broadband Keep the National Bank of Vanuatu Connected
Oceanic Broadband Utilizes Proxim’s Wireless Backhaul to Connect 22 Branch Office Location |
Silicon Valley, CA (February 7, 2012) – Proxim Wireless Corporation (OTC Markets: PRXM),
a leading provider of complete outdoor wireless backhaul systems, announced today that
Oceanic Broadband Solutions Pty. Ltd., a leading telecommunications service provider in Asia
Pacific, has deployed Proxim’s wireless backhaul solutions to provide connectivity for the
National Bank of Vanuatu (NBV). Oceanic deployed Proxim’s Tsunami® QuickBridge MIMO
Integrated 8100 products to connect 22 of the bank’s branch office locations.
“When the National Bank of Vanuatu came to us seeking a more reliable, cost-effective solution
for connecting their many branch office locations, we knew that wireless was the best way to
meet their needs,” said Tony Waters, Director of Oceanic Broadband. “Proxim’s wireless
backhaul solutions were a natural fit, as it provides high performance and reliability at a fraction
of the cost of fiber solutions.”
As part of the complete wireless solution for NBV, Oceanic has installed Proxim Wireless links
from NBV’s head office to their Disaster Recovery Centre, where an Oceanic VSAT HUB is
located. The Proxim Wireless products support all of the data and voice connections between
all branch office locations while providing up to 15x the performance of previously installed
solutions.
Oceanic has utilized a combination of solar, wind and battery technology to provide continuous
power for the wireless links, as well as for the NBV branch office locations. As a result, even
when storms or natural disasters cut off the power, the wireless network continues to provide
service to NBV and its many branch locations.
“Proxim has worked with Oceanic on high performance, mission critical wireless networks in the
past, and we are pleased to be able to deliver products for yet another reliable system,” said
John Marcos, Regional Sales Manager at Proxim Wireless. “Due to Proxim’s superior indoor
and outdoor broadband wireless solution portfolio we were able to provide the right mix of
products for a completely customized solution.”
